Alice's Chronicles - The raspberry bush
Let's talk about the raspberry bush with the artisan and herbalist Brigitte Cloutier!
Raspberry leaf is a goldmine for the entire female system. In her studies at the herbal library, Brigitte discovered that this leaf was mentioned there as “The fairy grass of the woman”.
Among its many uses, raspberry leaf can be taken throughout pregnancy but especially in the third cycle. It has exceptional properties such as antiemetic (soothes nausea), antiscorbutic, astringent, depurative, nutritive, tonic and uterine tonic.
The best part of it all? It tastes wonderful when steeped! (Learn how to make an infusion at the end of the article!)
Obviously, harvesting must be done with respect for nature and the environment. If you can harvest some, here's how;
When the shrub reaches its second year, the stems are tough and wooden. Take leaves here and there making sure to leave at least two out of three, to preserve photosynthesis as well as flowering.
When you've gathered enough leaves, enjoy the goodness of mother nature with such a simple and good herbal tea!
